WRITING WITH THE SEASONS is a monthly writing workshop in which we come together with a particular theme or muse from the season or time of year we are passing through, to excavate our inner worlds and transmute and alchemize our thoughts, feelings, inspirations, ecstasy and yes, pain, into words.

The purpose of these workshop is to inspire and unlock the creative juices. I like to think of it as loosening knots, and through this loosening we might gain a greater felt understanding of our subconscious landscape and our relationship with the world around us. Bone deep memories and experiences may reveal themselves and while the purpose of this workshop isn’t to walk away with a polished and publishable piece, some of my own personal favorite writings are the direct results of workshops or writing classes I’ve taken. I find writing is a practice that I always go back to, whether it is journaling to unload my thoughts or find some sort of orientation and grounding, or whipping out my notes app on my phone when I am somewhere beautiful in nature and the muse strikes me. It is a creative practice that only requires our words, and the amount effort it takes to translate internal musings into a physical piece of writing.

When we are adults and we have left school, are no longer required to participate in writing class, have left behind the angst-ridden diaries of our teenage years, our writing often falls into the category of to do lists. Not only what needs to be done around the house, or for work, or errands we need to run, but also in the world of self work. I love manifestation lists and as a Virgo, I love lists in general but can we also make room for poetry to pour through us? Can we make a list of what we’ve noticed on a walk as the seasons changed? What places we’ve traveled that have felt like returning home to our souls? In a world of to do lists, be a poem. Let stream of consciousness channel through you as you write, let it be messy, let it not make sense: you just might be surprised with the beauty and coherence of your words as you give them space to be born.

”Thank you so much for the writing workshop. It was SO GOOD, so good, in so many ways. It was profound but in a way that wasn't overwhelming. It felt like scuba diving in the deep ocean, like you're in a place that can be intense (creative vulnerability and reflection) but navigating it with other people in such a playful, trusting, intimate and inspiring way. A lot of alchemizing took place for me. Also, time flew by like crazy! I love how you weaved mythology, poetry and writing. Very uniquely your essence, and very valuable.” -Jacqui, LA
